Jess Duran is a multimedia/digital storyteller. He started his passion with media at the ripe-old-age of 14 in Los Angeles, California, after his neighbor—a Hollywood prominent agent—put him on the 80′s hit television show The Wonder Years on ABC television and Beverly Hills 90210.

It was while filming on the show’s set that he discovered the joys of storytelling through the creative use of writing and film.  (Fast forward to 21st Century media… and storytelling is becoming more digital/interactive.)

After attending UCLA and California State University, Northridge, Jess pursued his passion in journalism and worked across the country as a reporter and producer gathering stories from people all over the world. His most memorable interview was with First Lady Hillary Rodam Clinton at El Museo Del Barrio in New York City.

Jess is a former American Government high school teacher from San Gabriel Valley, and previously worked for Los Angeles Unified School District Board President, Valerie Fields.

Jess is an Emmy award recipient and has worked at ABC News, Univision, Telemundo, MTV News, FOX, PBS, and Time Warner’s local 24 hour CNN affiliate, NY1 news station in New York City, New York.  Jess has written for the NYTimes and several Spanish language newspapers. He has appeared on ABC’s “The View” with Barbara Walters, and has been recognized by U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer for his services in communication.

Currently, Jess is exploring and using 21st Century digital media to promote, alter, and impact human thought through the power and use of story.  Since 2004, he has been working with CATALINA Magazine on a number of media management projects nationwide, and he’s building new schools in Mexico, to educate the poor and unprivileged in that society. In memory of his father, Jess is actively involved with the Rising Farmworker Dream Fund. The fund is a non-profit organization started by his friend Martin Curiel at Harvard Business School.  The organization aims to leverage the power and resources of the business sector to enable positive social change within the American farm working community.

Jess lives in many zip codes (with wireless access) but owns a country home in Iowa City, Iowa, and spends his winters along the beach-front with his family in Los Angeles, California.
